Product details
Echo® Bone Conduction Headphones provide an alternative way to listen to sound. Instead of sending sound through the ear canal, they transmit vibrations through the bones around the ear to the inner ear. This leaves the ear canal open, which may be helpful for some people with hearing difficulties or anyone who finds conventional headphones uncomfortable.
Want to learn more before choosing? Read our guide to wired bone conduction headphones, including how they work, who they may suit and how they can be used with compatible listening equipment.
Many bone conduction headphones are designed for sport and use Bluetooth technology. Wired bone conduction headphones suitable for assistive listening equipment are less common. Hearing Products International developed these headphones specifically for use with compatible products from the Echo® range, including the RadioLink 2.4G, EchoLinkPro and MiniTech personal listeners.
They offer a practical alternative for people who cannot use, or feel uncomfortable wearing, under-chin, in-ear or over-ear headphones.

When should I use bone conduction headphones?
Bone conduction headphones may be worth considering if:
- You have conductive hearing loss and have been advised that bone conduction may be suitable for you
- You find headphones placed over or inside your ears uncomfortable
- You need to remain aware of surrounding sounds while listening
- You want to use headphones alongside compatible hearing aids
- You prefer a more discreet wired listening option
What is conductive hearing loss?
Conductive hearing loss occurs when an obstruction or damage in the outer or middle ear prevents sound from reaching the inner ear efficiently. It affects the pathway through which sound normally travels rather than the inner ear or auditory nerve.
Are they compatible with my mobile phone, tablet or computer?
Echo® Bone Conduction Headphones are passive headphones designed primarily for use with compatible products from the Echo® range.
Some mobile phones, tablets and computers may not provide enough audio output to produce a suitable listening volume. For this reason, we recommend using the headphones with an amplified personal listener such as the Echo® MiniTechT or Echo® MiniTechPro. These products allow you to control the volume and tone and can be purchased separately or as part of our personal listener range.
If you intend to connect the headphones directly to another device, check that the device has a compatible audio connection and sufficient output. Begin at a low volume and increase it gradually to a comfortable listening level. Excessive volume may damage your hearing.
Can they be worn with hearing aids?
They may be worn alongside some hearing aids, including certain in-the-ear hearing aids. Compatibility, comfort and results will depend on the hearing aids and the individual wearer. If you are unsure, ask your hearing care provider for advice.
Are they waterproof?
No. These headphones are not waterproof and should only be used in dry environments.
Do they require batteries or charging?
No. These are passive wired headphones and do not contain batteries. They receive their audio signal from a compatible Echo® personal listener, TV listener or another compatible electronic device.
Are they Bluetooth enabled?
No. These are wired headphones with a 3.5mm stereo connection. They must be connected to a compatible audio source, preferably through an Echo® MiniTech personal listener or a TV listener such as the Echo® RadioLink 2.4G or EchoLinkPro.
Safety notice: Keep connected electronic devices at least six inches away from an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) or pacemaker, and follow the guidance supplied with your medical device.
